Dr. Gardner practices adult, adolescent, geriatric, and couples Psychiatry based in Greenwich, CT.
He deals with emotional and life distress of all sorts including depression and anxieties, relationship difficulties, Bipolar Disorder, alcohol abuse, grief reactions, stress, PTSD, child-rearing problems, issues related to medical illnesses, and educational, career, and interpersonal difficulties.
He provides consultations and evaluations, psychotherapy of several kinds, medication if needed, and counseling and life coaching. He believes in practical, common-sense, collaborative approaches to personal issues, with the goal of restoring or improving life satisfaction and life functioning while offering choices in clinical approaches.
Dr. Gardner's specialty training was at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, followed by certification in Psychoanalysis at Columbia University Center for Training and Research. During several years as full-time faculty at Cornell Medical School, Dr. Gardner became Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Attending Physician there.
Dr. Gardner was Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Greenwich (CT) Hospital for ten years and remains affiliated with the hospital as Attending Physician. He is currently on the faculty at the Columbia University Medical Center’s Center for Psychoanalytic Training. He also consults for the Connecticut Department of Public Health, with Greenwich Hospital on women’s health issues, has published numerous papers on Psychiatric topics, and currently publishes pieces on the internet on various sites about life, mental health, life challenges, culture, and religion.
Dr. Gardner is a third-generation physician in Fairfield County. He has three kids, and likes dogs.
